DP, West Valley, Lakeside reach state
Colton Peone scored 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter and Deer Park advanced to the District 7 2A title game with a 57-50 victory over Pullman (12-10) Friday in Deer Park.
The Stags (15-6) – who earned a state tournament berth Friday regardless of today’s district championship – trailed most of the game, but took the lead for good with 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
The Stags will play West Valley for the No. 1 seed to state today at 8 p.m. at Central Valley.
Pullman will play Clarkston at 3 p.m. at CV to determine the third and final state tournament bid.
West Valley 52, Clarkston 46: Brady Bagby scored 10 of his 12 points in the fourth quarter and the Eagles (14-8) shot 5 of 10 from 3-point range in an upset over the district’s No. 1 seeded Bantams (15-6) in Clarkston.

Lakeside 56, Lake Roosevelt 50: Chris Cochrane and Jake Erickson combined for 25 points, and after 13 lead changes and nine ties the Eagles (11-13) pulled away with 25 points in the fourth quarter to beat the Raiders (15-8) in Moses Lake. Lakeside goes into the state tournament as the No. 3 seed out of the region, while LR will play Cashmere today at 4:30 p.m.
Cashmere 67, Chewelah 52: Pedro Farias scored 27 points and the Bulldogs (15-9) eliminated the Cougars (14-10) after taking a 22-4 first-quarter lead in Moses Lake. Dallas Garner had 17 to lead the Cougars.
Idaho 3A District I-II
Priest River 58, St. Maries 41: Max Salesky scored 17 points, hitting three 3-pointers, and the Spartans (19-3) advanced to the state tournament with their win over the Lumberjacks (10-8) in Rathdrum.
St. Maries will play Bonners Ferry at 7 p.m. today for the second state berth.
Bonners Ferry 71, Kellogg 50: Alex Kellogg scored 23 points and Mat Evans added 15 as the Badgers (8-13) took advantage of the absence of the Wildcats’ Cody Lewis to eliminate the Wildcats (12-11) in Rathdrum.
Idaho 1A Division II
Kootenai 55, Mullan 35: Jacob Zarpentine finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Greg Wallace and Hayden Kraack each added 12 points as the host Warriors (12-9) overcame an 18-day layoff to beat the Tigers (7-10) at Harrison and advance to the 1A State tournament. The Tigers were eliminated from the postseason.

Newport 44, Brewster 41: Miranda Frederick had 14 points and went 6 of 6 from the free-throw line down the stretch to help the Grizzlies (13-12) eliminate the Bears (10-11) in Moses Lake. Newport will play Chelan today for the No. 4 seed to state.
Lakeside 51, Chelan 43: Three Eagles (21-3) finished in double figures and the Goats (18-3) could not keep pace, turning the ball over 18 times in the loss in Moses Lake. Lakeside advanced to state as the No. 3 seed.
