Comcast gives Spokane Web users a usage meter

Comcast has released its official data-use meter for its Spokane high speed Internet customers. As of Jan. 12, customers with Comcast Internet accounts can go online and see how much data they consume in a month. The tool is the result of a Web dust-up from 16 months ago, when Comcast had to admit it was throttling the Web bandwidth of high-use users. The company said it needed to take the action to protect the entire network Comcast, the country’s larget cable company, established a monthly data limit of 250 gigabytes. To use the tool, go to customer.comcast.com, click on “Users and Settings” tab and look for the “View details” in the “My devices” section. The meter will first show usage in the current month. Comcast spokesman Walt Neary said customers with Comcast’s Voice phone service, which uses the same network pipes as Internet high speed data, likely won’t approach the 250 GB limit.
