Roundup: Eastern to host hockey tourney

Six of the top 15 college club hockey teams in the west are slated to participate in the second Hockey Showcase at Eastern Washington University Thursday through Sunday.

Leading the contingent are Colorado State, ranked No. 1 in the American Collegiate Hockey Association West, and the host Eagles (13-4-1-1) ranked third.

There will be three games each of the first three days in the University Recreation Center, at 2, 5 and 8 p.m., with two Sunday, at 5 and 8. Eastern plays at 8 each day.

Football

Ferris received the Inland Empire Football Officials team sportsmanship award Monday night.

It’s the fifth year the award has been presented, honoring a high school team for its character, fair play and sportsmanship, said football assigning secretary Dan Mencke.

Boys basketball

Cody Lewis had 22 points and six rebounds to lead Kellogg (9-4) to a 66-34 non-league win at Kootenai. Jacob Zarpentine and Taylor Dodson led the Warriors (5-7) with nine points apiece.
