Nilles leads WV past Pullman

Shaniqua Nilles scored 26 points with eight rebounds and the West Valley Eagles scored the last six points to beat the Pullman Greyhounds 59-53 at WV.

The game was tied at 53 with 1:47 to play before Nilles hit four consecutive free throws. The win kept the Eagles (12-0, 6-0) on top of the Great Northern League while knocking the Greyhounds (7-4, 4-1) from the ranks of the league’s unbeatens. Shelby Cheslek led Pullman with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Clarkston 60, Cheney 51: Trailing by three in the third quarter, the Bantams (6-4, 4-1) hit four 3-pointers, including two by Stephanie Gilchrist, to push ahead of the Blackhawks (6-6, 2-4) for good in Cheney. Kellie McCann-Smith led the Bantams with 18 points and 10 boards. Laikyn Brophy paced the Blackhawks with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Colville 48, Deer Park 39: Ashley Knight and Emily Pond scored 10 points apiece, Tanna Morris added all nine of her points in the first half and the Indians (9-2, 4-1) outlasted a late run by the visiting Stags (3-9, 0-6), who were led by Alison Ruygrok’s 15 points.

Medical Lake 37, Riverside 31: Kaitlin McNeill scored 20 points and helped fuel a 12-0 first quarter by the Cardinals (3-8, 2-3) that held up against the Rams (1-10, 0-6) in Medical Lake.

Northeast A

Freeman 49, Lakeside 47: Korina Baker had 16 points, and after the Scotties (16-1, 4-1) started the game on a 9-0 run, the Eagles (13-2, 4-1) chipped away to pull within two before missing a potential winning 3-pointer at the buzzer in Nine Mile Falls. The win pulled the Scotties into a first-place tie with the Eagles.

Newport 59, Chewelah 32: Courtney Wiese hit nine of her 13 points in the first quarter as the Grizzlies (10-6, 3-2) broke loose early against the Cougars (1-16, 0-5) in Newport.

District 9 North

Rosalia 34, LaCrosse-Washtucna 23: Briann and Katelyn Maley teamed up to score 23 points and the visiting Spartans (9-7, 4-2) outscored the Tigercats (5-10, 1-6) 9-2 in the fourth quarter to pull away in a 1B matchup.

Pomeroy 35, Garfield-Palouse 30: Karlie Martin scored 14 points and the Pirates (4-8, 1-2) hit free throws down the stretch to keep the Vikings (0-12, 0-3) at bay in Palouse. Kacie Adair added 22 points for the Vikings in a 2B matchup.

St. John-Endicott 75, Asotin 51: Kelsey Simon led three Eagles (13-0) in double figures with 21 points and a 22-9 third quarter helped put away the visiting Panthers (9-6) in a 2B/1B game..

Colton 86, Tekoa-Oakesdale 24: Haley Moser hit eight 3-point shots and poured in a game-high 34 points as the Wildcats (14-0) sunk the Nighthawks (5-7), building a 44-10 halftime lead before resting their starters the rest of the way in Colton in a 2B/1B game.

St. George’s 42, Inchelium 10: The Dragons (15-2, 10-1) were led by eight points from Alicia Burns and held the Hornets (0-15, 0-11) to three first-half points in Inchelium.

Republic 52, Wellpinit 40: Alyssa Stout scored 26 points, including 12-of-16 shooting from the free-throw line, and the Tigers (12-3, 9-2) ended any threat of a comeback by the Redskins (7-7, 5-6) with a 9-0 run in the third quarter in Republic.

Northport 35, St. Michael’s 34: Shaynne Wilson hit a pair of free throws with less than a second remaining in regulation to lift the Mustangs (3-11, 2-9) over the Warriors (0-12, 0-11) in Northport. Wilson finished with 16 points, hitting 4 of 6 from the free throw line in the game.

Springdale 60, Curlew 37: Jerika Cummings and Shelbea Rainbolt combined for 21 points and the Chargers (16-1, 10-1) raced out to a 23-8 lead against the host Cougars (7-7, 5-6) and never looked back.

Columbia 50, Selkirk 37: Krista Salena and Mackenzie Parrow each scored 13 points and the Lions (4-12, 4-8) held off the Rangers (10-7, 7-5) in Ione. Courtney Holter led the Rangers with 12 points.

Nonleague

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 57, Valley Christian 25: Madeline Isaak scored 22 points with six assists and five steals and the host Warriors (14-2) cruised to a win over the Panthers (7-8) at Coulee City, outscoring them 26-8 in the fourth quarter.

Colfax 71, Sprague-Harrington 31: The Bulldogs (11-3) hit 31 of 62 from the field and held the host Falcons (4-11) to seven first-half points, getting 13 points from Amelie Bruya to lead the way.

Lind-Ritzville 63, Odessa 31: Kelsey Arlt hit four 3-pointers for all of her 12 points to lead the Broncos (8-7) over the Tigers (2-11) in Odessa. The Broncos built a 19-8 lead after one quarter, pushing it to 19 by the end of the first half.

Davenport 69, Wilbur-Creston 27: Miranda Mielke scored eight of her 21 points in the first quarter and the Gorillas’ (6-9) bench contributed 32 points in the win over the host Wildcats (2-15).
