Parking rules in place for Liberty Lake holiday events

Visitors heading to Liberty Lake for the Fourth of July concert and fireworks will find parking and traffic restrictions in place to control traffic and make sure there is enough room on the roads for emergency crews if needed.

The festivities begin in Pavillion Park at Country Vista Drive and Molter Road at 5:30 p.m. with the bluegrass band Columbia followed by the big band music of Tuxedo Junction. The fireworks will begin about 10 p.m.

The parking lot in Pavillion Park will be open for handicap and senior citizen parking only. Parking will be available at Liberty Lake Elementary, 23606 E. Boone Ave., with a free shuttle bus to and from Pavillion Park.

The multiple temporary barricades that used to limit parking on some streets south of Sprague Avenue will not be in place, but that doesn’t mean anything has changed. The parking restrictions are now permanent year-round and no parking signs are in place. Sometimes parking is only allowed on one side of a street, so watch carefully for signs. Fire marshals from Spokane Valley Fire will be on patrol during the event and any car found parked in a restricted area will be towed to ensure that emergency vehicles can make their way down the streets.

The Liberty Lake Police Department will close some streets beginning at 8 p.m. Country Vista Drive will be closed between Molter Road and Wright Boulevard. Molter Road will be closed between Country Vista Drive and Boone Avenue. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic. No Parking will be allowed on Mitchell Court.

The closures are done to protect the large number of pedestrians walking to and from the park. The roads will be opened after the fireworks once pedestrian traffic has subsided.
