Out The Phoenix Suns’ Steve Kerr won’t return as general manager, despite building a team that made a surprising run to the NBA’s Western Conference finals. Kerr told the Associated Press on Tuesday that the decision was solely his. He said he is “exploring a couple of possibilities” to return to television work.

• Georges Laraque and the Montreal Canadiens have parted ways. The Canadiens bought out the final season of the enforcer’s three-year, $4.5 million contract.

Sidelined Fifth-ranked Elena Dementieva has pulled out of Wimbledon with a calf injury. Dementieva was injured at the French Open this month, forcing her to retire during her semifinal against Francesca Schiavone.

Hired Hockey Hall of Famer Cam Neely will be named the president of the Boston Bruins today, a team official confirmed. The Bruins have not had a president since Harry Sinden stepped down in 2006 after 17 years in the position.

Promoted Indiana State promoted assistant Greg Lansing to be its new men’s basketball coach. The announcement came a day after Kevin McKenna resigned to become an assistant to Dana Altman at Oregon.

Skipping Offensive lineman Logan Mankins is upset with negotiations over a new contract, and skipped the start of the New England Patriots’ three-day minicamp after requesting a trade. He has started every game since being drafted in 2005.

• Joannie Rochette will skip the Grand Prix series while she decides whether to skate as an amateur or professional. Rochette won a bronze medal at the Vancouver Olympics a few days after her mother died of a heart attack.

Signed The Oakland Raiders signed two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle John Henderson to a free-agent contract. Henderson was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars after the draft in April.

Died St. Bonaventure’s Tom Stith, a prolific scoring small forward who led the Bonnies to their first NCAA tournament berth in 1961, died after a lengthy battle with cancer and kidney problems. He was 71.
