NIC women rule Region 18

PRICE, Utah – Tugce Canitez tossed in 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Camille Reynolds hit 9 of 10 shots and scored 22 to propel the third-seeded North Idaho Cardinals (25-6) to an 86-76 win over No. 1 seed Salt Lake (26-5) in the title game of the Region 18 women’s basketball tournament Saturday.

With the win, the Cards earn a berth in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I national tournament, which starts March 16 in Salina, Kan.

The Cards took control of the game in the first half when they shot 67 percent (20 of 30) from the floor to take a 46-31 lead at the break.

Amy Warbrick added 11 points and five assists for the Cardinals, while Katie Sanders scored 14.
