Golf: The ambulance crew that responded after Tiger Woods crashed his SUV would not allow his wife to ride with him to the hospital because they suspected domestic violence, documents released Friday by the Florida Highway Patrol show.

But a police officer who responded said he didn’t know where the crew got that information, because he never heard it from anyone at the scene.

The reports also showed Woods’ wife, Elin, turned over two bottles of pain pills to troopers after the Nov. 27 crash outside the couple’s suburban Orlando home.

Woods crashed his sport utility vehicle into a fire hydrant at 2:30 a.m., and officers found him lying in the street. The couple told investigators Elin Woods smashed the back window of the SUV with a golf club so she could unlock a door and pull him out.

Woods, the world’s No. 1 golfer, has strenuously denied his wife abused him.

The report showed Health Central Hospital, which treated Woods after the crash, refused to release blood test results to investigators without a warrant. The state attorney’s office wouldn’t request one, saying there wasn’t enough probable cause that a crime had been committed.

Cpl. Thomas R. Dewitt, one of the highway patrol investigators, also wrote in his report that he asked for videotape from a security camera at the Woods’ home.

“There were two cameras that should have documented (the vehicle) leaving the driveway and portions of the crash,” Dewitt wrote.

But the golfer’s lawyer, Mark NeJame, told him the couple didn’t know if the camera worked and couldn’t figure out how to remove the tape.

Els rushes to CA lead: Ernie Els was in the lead and off the golf course, and he wasn’t sure which made him feel better.

Rushing to finish as dark clouds gathered over the Blue Monster, Els made one last birdie for a 6-under-par 66 and a one-shot lead over Robert Allenby before heavy rain temporarily halted play in the CA Championship in Doral, Fla.

Eighteen players had to wait nearly three hours before they could resume the second round. When it finally ended, Els had his first lead after any round on U.S. soil since he won the Honda Classic two years ago.

“It’s in the books, and we were pretty lucky to get done,” said Els, at 10-under 134. “We ran the last two holes just to get in the house.”

Kendall atop Puerto Rico Open: Skip Kendall topped the Puerto Rico Open leaderboard at 5 under after nine holes when first-round play was suspended because of darkness in the rain-delayed PGA Tour event in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Heavy morning rain suspended play just 20 minutes after the first tee time and the round didn’t resume until 4:35 p.m. Downpours also forced the suspension of play Thursday, when 6.6 inches fell at oceanside Trump International Golf Club-Puerto Rico.

Richard S. Johnson and Kevin Streelman were 4 under. Johnson completed eight holes, and Streelman played seven. John Daly was 1 under through eight.

Streaking Bucks hold off Jazz

NBA: Ersan Ilyasova scored on a putback with 27.2 seconds remaining for the lead and the Milwaukee Bucks knocked off yet another NBA powerhouse, holding on to beat the visiting Utah Jazz 95-87.

John Salmons had 24 points and Brandon Jennings added 23 for the Bucks, who have won five straight games and 11 of their last 12 – including home wins over Eastern Conference powerhouses Cleveland and Boston in the past week, although the Cavaliers were resting LeBron James.

Durant sets mark in win: Kevin Durant scored 32 points, his franchise-record 36th 30-point game this season, and the Thunder beat the NBA-worst New Jersey Nets 104-102 in Oklahoma City for their 16th victory in 19 games.

Durant passed Spencer Haywood’s mark from the 1972-1973 season with the Seattle SuperSonics.

The Thunder also recalled Kyle Weaver (Washington State) from Tulsa of the NBA Development League.

Alston’s season over: Rafer Alston’s season with the Miami Heat is officially over. Alston was moved to the suspended list by the Heat late Friday night, one week after he left the team without telling any member of the organization why.

Roethlisberger attorney hires P.I.

NFL: An attorney for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has hired a private investigator to look into a sexual assault allegation made by a 20-year-old Georgia college student.

Police in the college town of Milledgeville continue to investigate, but have released little information since the accusation was made a week ago.

The two-time Super Bowl champ’s lawyer, Ed Garland, said he has hired his own investigative team.

“Any lawyer representing anyone needs to know all the facts so that he can perform his duties,” he said.

Roethlisberger has not been charged, and Garland said “no criminal conduct took place.”

Redskins sign Johnson: Running back Larry Johnson has signed a three-year deal with the Washington Redskins.

The contract’s base value is $3.5 million, but Johnson could make as much as $12 million if he meets certain incentives.

Johnson is a two-time Pro Bowl pick who has run for 6,219 yards and 55 touchdowns in eight NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals.

Jets keep courting Tomlinson: Free-agent running back LaDainian Tomlinson met with New York Jets officials at the team’s training facility in Florham Park, N.J., and he had dinner with coach Rex Ryan, general manager Mike Tannenbaum and others in New Jersey.

Tomlinson was scheduled to fly back home to San Diego, but changed his flight after arriving so late Thursday night. Because of that, the Jets extended their visit with him Friday to include dinner.
