Brittany Dugger split two defenders to score the opening goal in the 23rd minute and Sammi Hilsiker added an insurance goal 9 minutes later as East Valley (15-6) advanced to the semifinals in the State 2A girls soccer tournament with a 2-0 victory over visiting Prosser on Saturday.

“Those were two of the biggest goals in East Valley girls soccer history,” said EV coach Gabe Escobar, who saw the Knights advance past the state quarterfinals for the first time in four appearances.

The Knights, who held Prosser to just three shots, will play White River in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup, Wash. The Hornets beat Klahowya 1-0 in overtime in their quarterfinal match.

State 1A: After finishing regulation and two overtimes in a scoreless tie, Lakeside (14-4-1) received three goals to beat host La Salle 3-1 in a shootout in the state quarterfinals in Union Gap.

Michaela Bristos, Katie Baran and Darbey Peters all found the back of the net for the Eagles against La Salle keeper Stephanie Perez in the shootout. The Eagles advance to the semifinals to play Bush at 2 p.m. Friday at Sparks Stadium. The Blazers beat Cashmere 5-2 in their quarterfinal match.

• State 4A: Mykala Benjamin scored a pair of second-half goals and host Kentwood exploded for three goals after the break to beat Lewis and Clark (18-2-1) 4-0 in the state quarterfinals in Covington.

The Tigers stayed close throughout the first half before Kentwood broke the scoreless tie in the 33rd minute on a goal from Mariah Lee. It did not take the Conquerers long to expand their lead in the second half, with Kiana Kraft scoring 3 minutes after halftime.
