New Faces

Aaron Misiuk has been hired as a nurse practitioner for St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute. He previously worked for Wenatchee Valley Hospital and has 15 years of nursing experience.

Eastern Washington Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing has hired Dennis Matthews as a case manager. Matthews, a graduate of Gallaudet University, previously taught deaf and hard of hearing K-12 students and has worked for Video Relay Services, Independent Living Center and Deaf Advocacy Centers.

Shamus O’Doherty has been hired by Paine Hamblen LLP as an associate attorney for the firm’s Spokane office. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in accounting from Gonzaga University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Gonzaga University School of Law. Next IT has hired Katy Koenen as a curriculum specialist and Tim Hill as a quality assurance engineer.

New Position

Gonzaga University has named John Shuford new director of its Institute for Hate Studies. In addition to his new position, Shuford will continue to serve as an instructor for the university’s philosophy department. He holds a doctorate degree in philosophy and a law degree from the University of Oregon.

Kudos

ZweigWhite, national management and consulting research firm, and Stagnito Media, engineering media specialists, have named NAC Architecture the No. 2 “Best Architecture Firm to Work For” in the U.S. for 2010.

Anthony Roslund was named the Grand Prize winner of Professional Photographers of America’s 2010 Professional Photographer Magazine cover contest. Roslund is owner and operator of Roslund Photography in Spokane.

Sterling Hospitality awarded employee Meredith Galvan with the company’s 2010 Director of Sales of the Year Award. Galvan is director of sales for the Holiday Inn Express Spokane Valley and Downtown Spokane.

Community Colleges of Spokane received a 2010 Excellence in Workplace Diversity Initiative Award in the nonprofit category from the Inland Northwest Society for Human Resource Management. The society also presented Northwest Farm Credit Services with an award in the for-profit category.

Gifts

The North Idaho College Foundation received $1,500 from State. Rep. Marge Chadderdon and Sen. John Goedde. Chadderdon and Goedde donated $750 each to sponsor Wayne Meyer Dual Credit scholarships for high school students in legislative District 4 taking dual credit classes at NIC.

Center Pointe received $5,000 from the Florence Wasmer Fund for Arts and Culture, through the Inland Northwest Community Foundation, for continued development of the center’s art program.

Appointed

Robert “Bob” Donegan has been appointed to Sterling Silver’s board of directors. Donegan previously served as a director of Golf Savings Bank and as president of Ivar’s Inc.

Red Lion Hotels Corp. appointed Dan Jackson as senior vice president and chief financial officer. He previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for KinderCare Learning Centers Inc. and Knowledge Learning Corp. and has more than 20 years of senior level finance and strategic planning experience.

Elected

Susan Noble and Marie Okamoto have been elected to serve on Center Pointe’s board of directors. Noble is a sales representative for Bank and Office Interiors and Okamoto is a senior accountant for Team Spirit America.

The following individuals have been elected as officers for the Inland Northwest Community Foundation’s 2011 board of directors: chairman, Sandy Patano, professional business consultant, Coeur d’Alene; vice chairman, Robert Larson, senior vice president of investments, Merrill Lynch, Spokane; and secretary, William Bouten, president of Bouten Construction, Spokane.

Dr. Steven Brisbois of Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center has been elected as a member of Hospice of Spokane’s board of trustees.
