‘Deadliest Catch’ vessel catches fire

Seattle Times

SEATTLE – About 100 Seattle firefighters descended on the Interbay neighborhood early Sunday to put out a large fire aboard a fishing vessel called the “Arctic Dawn,” which has appeared in episodes of the “Deadliest Catch” reality TV show.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 2 a.m. to the Ship Canal in the 1300 block of West Nickerson Street, where they found heavy flames and smoke pouring from the 100-foot vessel, said Dana Vander Houwen of the Seattle Fire Department.

One person aboard the vessel was able to get off safely, and no injuries were reported, Vander Houwen said.

The fire was put out by 3:30 a.m. Seattle fire investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
