Hawks beat clock

Corey Thorne rushed for 198 yards and crashed into the end zone as time expired Friday, lifting Lakeland (1-3) over host Timberlake (0-3) 27-26 in nonleague action at Spirit Lake.

The Tigers took the lead with 48 seconds remaining on a touchdown pass from Brian Cronnelly before the Hawks mounted the winning drive, capped by Thorne’s run.

Sandpoint 26, West Valley 19: Anthony Gold rushed for four touchdowns and the Bulldogs (2-1) held off the Eagles (0-3) in their comeback bid at WV. Dylan Ellsworth scored to bring the Eagles within five, but they could not score again before time expired.

Deer Park 24, Priest River 6: The Stags (3-0) raced out to a 24-0 lead with all their points coming in the first half and cruised the rest of the way against the Spartans (1-2) at Deer Park.

Post Falls 48, East Valley 12: The Trojans (3-0) knocked off the Knights (1-2) in Post Falls. No other information was available.

Clarkston 18, Moscow 7: Colby Hansen scored a receiving touchdown in the second quarter to give the Bantams (2-1) the lead and then ran 44 yards for the clinching score in the fourth in a win over the Bears (2-2) in Clarkston.

Lewiston 46, Pullman 7: Tyler Broemeling and Ryan Humphries rushed for two TDs apiece as the Bengals (2-0) upended the Greyhounds (1-2) in Lewiston. The Bengals’ Bo Kerns threw two TD passes.

Cheney 14, Cascade (Leavenworth) 14: Ben Bissell scored one rushing and one passing touchdown, the last one drawing the Blackhawks (1-1-1) even with the Kodiaks before time expired, ending the game in a tie in Cheney.

Lakeside (WA) 24, Medical Lake 23 (OT): Zach Warlick threw a touchdown and then converted the two-point try with a run to lift the Eagles (1-2) over the Cardinals (0-3) in an overtime period in Medical Lake.

Chewelah 32, Tonasket 0: Calvin Connall had a touchdown rushing and a second score receiving and tallied 220 yards of total offense as the Cougars (2-1) shut out the Tigers in Tonasket. Derek Smith added 10-of-18 passing for 165 yards and two TDs, as well as 107 yards rushing in the win.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 26, Garfield-Palouse 12: Derrick Isaac completed 8 of 16 passes for 223 yards and three TDs as the Warriors (3-0) stayed unbeaten with a win against the host Vikings (1-1).

Lethbridge (Alberta) 28, Kellogg 7: The Rams upended the Wildcats (0-3), despite 90 yards and a touchdown from Ryne Stull in Kellogg.

St. John-Endicott 54, Kootenai 22: Cole McCanna rushed for three touchdowns and added another pair of TDs receiving as the Eagles (2-0) outscored the host Warriors (2-2) 34-0 in the first half in Harrison.

Kittitas 13, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 9: The Coyotes scored all of their points in the first half and kept the host Broncos (1-1) out of the end zone the rest of the way. LRS’s only points in the second half came via a safety in the third quarter.

Colton 26, Joseph 0: Josh Straughan threw a pair of touchdown passes and Steve Eacker tallied a pair of TDs as the Wildcats (1-2) shut out the Eagles in Colton.

Odessa-Harrington 78, Curlew 28: Nick Sperline had 209 yards rushing and three touchdowns, while Jared King added 157 rushing yards and 138 passing in the Titans’ (2-1) win against the visiting Cougars (1-1).

Selkirk 42, Republic 6: Michael Weiss caught a pair of touchdowns and Trevor Grant added 104 yards rushing and a score as the Rangers (1-2) trounced the Tigers (0-2) in Republic.

Bonners Ferry 38, St. Maries 18: Taylor Tompke scored three rushing touchdowns and the Badgers (1-2, 1-0) upended the Lumberjacks (1-3, 0-1) in Bonners Ferry. Brad Anderson had a pair of TDs on the ground for the Lumberjacks.

Riverside 28, Freeman 14: Chase Florez had 99 yards and two touchdowns rushing, his last coming in the fourth quarter to clinch the win for the Rams (3-0, 1-0) against the Scotties (2-1, 0-1) in their league opener in Riverside.

Colville 42, Newport 6: Blake Sjordal ran the ball 11 times for 211 yards and three touchdowns as the Indians (3-0, 1-0) opened league play with a convincing victory against the Grizzlies (0-2, 0-1) in Colville.

Asotin 22, Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia 19: Levie Forsberg finished with two touchdowns and the visiting Panthers (2-1, 1-0) held off the Nighthawks (1-2, 0-1). Scott Eberle tallied two passing touchdowns and one rushing for TOR.

Reardan 27, Kettle Falls 6: Johnny Kieffer had 80 yards and two touchdowns rushing and the Indians (2-0, 1-0) held the Bulldogs (0-3, 0-1) to just 80 yards of total offense in their league opener in Reardan.

Colfax 62, Davenport 21: Tyler McNannay rushed for two first-quarter touchdowns and the Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0) opened a 35-0 lead after the first quarter, handling the Gorillas (1-1, 0-1) in Colfax. Alex Teade added three passing touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

Liberty 59, Springdale 20: George Canning rushed the ball 21 times for 301 yards and five touchdowns, adding a sixth score on an interception return for a touchdown, and the host Lancers (2-0, 1-0) scored 25 points in the fourth quarter to put away the Chargers (0-3, 0-1) in Spangle.

Wallace 54, Mullan 6: Kibman and Nathan Cook combined for 338 yards rushing on 18 carries and all seven Miners (3-0, 3-0) touchdowns in their victory over the Tigers (0-4, 0-4) in Wallace. Cusick 66, Northport 20: Ryan Sample led a potent passing attack with five touchdowns through the air as the Panthers (3-0, 1-0) invoked the 45-point mercy rule in the third quarter against the Mustangs (0-2, 0-1) in Northport.
