In brief: Indian dance ballet will be presented Oct. 2

RIVERSIDE – Jayanthi Raman and her dance troupe will perform “Shrishti (Creation),” a dance drama at the Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave., on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.

Indian snacks, catered by Taste of India will be available from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.

Tickets are $20 per person; $15 for students with ID. Children ages 2 through 12 are $5 each and ages 2 and younger are free.

SPOKANE – The sixth annual Fall Festival of Homes will be Friday through Sunday and Oct. 1 through Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The show features 41 homes from 24 of Spokane’s best builders. The homes range in value from $164,900 to $849,000 and are located in neighborhoods throughout Spokane. Participants of the tour will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win $8,000 worth of appliances from Fred’s Appliances at any host site.

Teeth whitening fundraiser to benefit Guilds’ School

SPOKANE COUNTY – The Spokane Guilds’ School will hold its annual Smiles Teeth Whitening Fundraiser from Oct. 1 through Nov. 30.

For $99, Spokane residents can visit participating dentists and get their teeth professionally whitened and help the Guilds’ School infants and toddlers with special needs.

BEMISS – Olive Crest will hold a training for community members who would like to tutor area at-risk children on Friday at New Beginnings, 2524 E. Queen Ave., from 1 to 3 p.m.

DEER PARK – Deer Park in Progress will sponsor a workshop Sunday to begin planning for community gardens, at the Deer Park Library, 208 S. Forest Ave., from 2 to 4 p.m.

Grange offering Sunday breakfasts through October

GREEN BLUFF – The Green Bluff Grange, at the corner of Day Mount Spokane and Green Bluff Roads, will have an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Sundays, through Oct. 31. The first breakfast will be this Sunday, from 8 to 11 a.m.

Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee.

The Green Bluff Grange also will host craft vendors and artists every weekend in October to celebrate the harvest festival.

Classes for River City Cloggers start Oct. 7

NEVADA/LIDGERWOOD – The River City Cloggers will begin their fall classes on Oct. 7 at the Corbin Community Senior Center, 827 W. Cleveland St., from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Classes are $5 each. The Oct. 7 class is free.

CHENEY – The annual Coats 4 Kids/Cheney Community Coat Drive is now under way. Coats can be donated at any Cheney School District school or local churches and businesses.

Collection will continue through Oct. 8. Distribution will be Oct. 16 at Salnave Elementary School, 1015 Salnave Road, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A second distribution will be on Oct. 23 at Sunset Elementary School, 12824 W. 12th Ave. in Airway Heights, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Coats are being cleaned by the Wash Tub in Cheney.
