Fatal fall from garage a possible suicide
A 15-year-old girl died after falling from the River Park Square garage in downtown Spokane Wednesday.
An autopsy today by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded the girl died of injuries suffered during the fall. Police are investigating her death as an apparent suicide, said Officer Jennifer DeRuwe, spokeswoman for the Spokane Police Department.
The girl fell several stories, landing on the paved garage entrance ramp below.
She was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries after police were called about 2:52 p.m.
The garage is owned by the Cowles Co., which also owns The Spokesman-Review.

Another senseless tragedy, how sad. Condolences to the family and friends of the young lady.
@geezlouise: Anything you see about KHQ, RPS, the garage, or anything else cowles owns, you will see this message about who owns it, to give the appearance of transparency in reporting

I don’t believe a teenage girl would jump knowing she would hit pavement. If it was pills, drowning, or cutting then ok, but not plunging her body into concrete. No way.

It is sad anytime a young life is lost and I hope answers are found. Although sad to think about, there is a trend toward females committing more violent forms of suicide, so jumping is not unrealistic.

Using some basic forensic techniques they can determine the height of the fall and if she was pushed or jumped. That being so there is probably a lot of evidence being combed over.
I concur with how sad it is that someone could decide to end their life at such a young age. Their life has yet to begin and miss all the joys and mysterys that life has. What great hopelessness was there that made this young woman decide that there was no life beyond the misery she felt she was in?
Parents take care of your children, they are your most precious asset.
A tear drops.
