Area roundup: CCS rallies to beat NIC

Preston Wynne scored 26 points and DeAngelo Jones added 22 as Community Colleges of Spokane beat North Idaho College 70-67 Sunday in the championship game of the Bigfoot-Cardinal Classic at Spokane Community College.

The Sasquatch (6-0) trailed by 12 points in the second half before rallying to send the Cardinals (9-1) to their first loss of the season.

Wynne and Jones were named co-MVPs of the tournament.

Jordan McCloud scored 16 points with 10 rebounds to lead NIC. Antoine Hosley added 13 points.

CCS travels to Eugene, Ore., this weekend to compete in the Dale Bates Invitational, while NIC plays Columbia Basin on Wednesday in Pasco.

Women’s basketball

Colorado closed with a 10-0 run en route to a 68-59 victory over Idaho in Boulder, Colo.

The Vandals (2-6) went 0 for 5 from the field over the final three minutes and Idaho’s offense scored just four points in the final six minutes.

Stacey Barr and Alyssa Charlston each scored 12 points to lead the Vandals.

Idaho hosts Carroll College on Thursday.

• Jazmine Davis scored 18 points to help Washington to an 80-46 victory over Long Beach State in Seattle.

Regina Rogers added 12 points with six rebounds for the Huskies (5-2), who host Portland on Friday.
