Services mark Christmas Eve, Christmas Day

Today is Christmas Eve and churches all over the Spokane Valley area will be hosting special worship services today and Sunday to mark the holy day.

• Genesis Church will have a Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. The church’s children will sing and the Christmas story will be told. A Christmas Day service will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday. The church is at 14415 E. Sprague Ave.

• Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th, will have a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. The church’s Christmas Day service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Coffee and muffins will be available at 10 a.m. prior to the service and there will also be children’s activities.

• A Christmas Eve candlelight service will begin at 7 p.m. today at Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Road.

• The Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will have two Christmas Eve services; the first in the chapel at 6 p.m. and second in the sanctuary at 10 p.m. A Christmas Day service will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday. The church is at 115 N. Raymond Road.

• A family worship service will begin at 7 p.m. at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, followed by a Communion service at 9 p.m. Child care will be available during the 7 p.m. service. The worship service on Christmas Day will begin at 10 a.m. The church is at 202 N. Pines Road.

• A candlelight service will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress Road. The service will include carols, candles, prayers and poetry. The choir will perform a Christmas cantata during the Christmas Day service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

• Christmas Eve services will be held at 7 and 10 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 15319 E. Eighth Ave. There will be a reception with cookies and cider following both services.

The church will celebrate Christmas Day with a service at 10 a.m.

• A candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held at 7 p.m. at Foothills Community Church, 11102 N. Forker Road.

• Zion Lutheran Church will host three Christmas Eve services. A traditional service with Christmas carols will begin at noon, a family candlelight service with a dramatic telling of the Christmas story will start at 5 p.m., and a candlelight Communion service will be held at 7 p.m.

The church, at 8304 E. Buckeye, will have a special combined service at 10 a.m. on Christmas Day.
