Whitworth women lose in overtime to Puget Sound

Jocelyn Riordan scored 21 points to go with eight rebounds and Puget Sound (16-4, 9-2) went on a 9-0 run to start overtime and beat Whitworth (10-10, 6-5) 69-60 in Northwest Conference basketball Friday in Tacoma.

Lexi Belcher scored a team-high 17 points for the Pirates, hitting their first basket in overtime. Up to that point, they were 0 for 5 from the floor in OT, helping UPS build a 64-55 lead with less than 2 minutes to play.

Lauren Picha and Emily Travis each added 12 points for the Pirates and Kelsey McKinnis chipped in 20 points and five rebounds for the Loggers.

North Idaho 85, Colorado Northwestern 60: Kama Griffitts notched 23 points on 6-of-11 shooting and Camille Reynolds added 18 points and seven rebounds for the Cardinals (21-2, 7-2), who opened a 43-28 lead at halftime and cruised to the win over the Spartans (6-16, 0-8) in Rangely, Colo.

NIC, on an 11-game winning streak, hit 7 of 19 3-point attempts.
