In brief: Council application deadline is Friday

SPOKANE VALLEY – The city of Spokane Valley will be accepting applications for the vacant City Council seat until 4 p.m. Friday. Any adult who has been a city resident for at least a year and is a registered voter may apply. The council will spend several weeks reviewing applications and conducting interviews. The vote to appoint a person to the seat is tentatively scheduled for April 5.

The term on the seat expires in November, which means that whoever is appointed will need to run for re-election to keep the seat.

Applications are available at City Hall, 11707 E. Sprague Ave., or online at www.spokanevalley.org.

Upward Soccer taking registrations

SPOKANE VALLEY – Upward Soccer is accepting registration for the spring season.

Games will be held at Valley Real Life Church, 11711 E. Sprague Ave., and Intersection Open Bible Church, 905 N. McDonald Road, beginning April 9.

Soccer is offered for children age 4 through sixth grade. Practices and games will be held weekly.

Registration deadline is Friday and the cost is $75 per child. To register and for more information, call Valley Real Life at (509) 232-0840.

Playground to hold Discovering Spring

SPOKANE VALLEY – Mark your calendar for a Discovering Spring event at Discovery Playground on April 15 from 3 to 5 p.m.

The environmental awareness celebration will include a tree-planting ceremony and the opening of the playground for the season. It is located next to CenterPlace at 2426 N. Discovery Place.
