Gregoire’s office says state workers can open mail

Associated Press

OLYMPIA — Gov. Chris Gregoire’s office has cleared workers in state offices to open mail, one day after ordering them to stop after fiery packages were sent to Maryland state offices.

Gregoire’s chief of staff Jay Manning sent an email this morning saying law enforcement officials believe Thursday’s events were limited to Maryland. He said employees can open mail again.

Two workers were injured in Maryland when they opened packages that shot out a tiny flame.
