Searchers find missing boys
They’re cold, but otherwise OK
Two boys who went missing Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Mill Road and Fairwood Drive were found cold but apparently unharmed about 11 p.m.
The boys – identified only as Carson, 7, and Jordan, 9 – were last seen about 4 p.m. and were reported missing about 5:20 p.m. Search-and-rescue units with dogs and the sheriff’s helicopter scoured the Little Spokane River drainage to find them.
Sheriff’s Detective Dave Thornburg said the boys were located near the Little Spokane River.

This sounds dire…thoughts to family, friends and rescuers/searchers. I’m hoping for a good outcome…

I’m glad to say that perhaps an hour or two ago I was monitoring Sheriff radio frequencies and overheard someone on the Sheriff’s helicopter reporting that both children were spotted safe and healthy, and I think I heard (before I needed to get back to work) that someone was now with the kids (although the helicopter was not able to land in the area, which was about a mile east of where the kids had last been seen).

Mill Road and Fairwood is dire?
We’ve really become a nation of wussies if an all points bulletin is put out for two late-for-dinner urchins roaming an urban greenbelt.

Dazee,
You troll. Go crawl back under the rock you came from.
The boys were truly lost in a large undeveloped area along the Little Spokane River, which was moving as fast as that river does, so you can imagine our worst fears. They were found huddled together and very cold—if not for the searchers and AIR 1, the outcome llikely would have been much worse.

Nice work and nice flying. There were some gusty winds in the area, and I could not figure our why that chopper was flying so low at night. Saving a couple kids it seems !

I was sitting in my home office last night when I heard the helicopter hovering outside. Looking out, it was across the river to the north about 1/8th of a mile from my house, on the other side of the river. It is NOT an urban greenbelt.
Not knowing what was going on, I checked the local news links and saw the story about these boys. It was very disconcerting; that is a pretty wild environment and they were definitely in a precarious situation. I had a hard time sleeping last night thinking about those guys. Since the heli was hovering for so long in a distinct location, I guessed they had been found but had a high level of trepidations. Thankfully, they had been. This is a story with a good ending. Kudos to the Sheriff’s department and the SAR efforts!
