Volunteers needed for preservation project

From Local Reports

Members of the Spokane Preservation Advocates are going to help spruce up the Woman’s Club during their January “doing it” project on Saturday.

Volunteers are needed for the work party that will run from 9 a.m. to noon at 1428 W. Ninth Ave. Painting is planned inside the building.

The Woman’s Club organization dates back to 1905, but the existing building was completed in 1929.

The organization has been known for championing progressive causes such as women’s suffrage and child day care.

Participants in Saturday’s event are asked to bring gloves and tools for painting. Scaffolding is being erected inside the building so volunteers can paint the walls.
