Entered Golfer Tiger Woods already has missed two major championships this year. He doesn’t plan on missing the last one. Woods has formally entered the PGA Championship, to be played Aug. 11-14 at Atlanta Athletic Club. He will make his return next week in the World Golf Championship event at Firestone.

Injured A slight tear in the tendon in Mike Wei r’s right elbow forced him out of at least one more PGA Tour event. Doctors advised Weir to take a couple of weeks off, forcing him out of next week’s Reno-Tahoe Open.

Transferred Quarterback Cody Green announced he’s transferring from Nebraska to Tulsa. Green joins Tulsa the same week quarterback Shavodrick Beaver said he was transferring from the Golden Hurricane. Green must sit out this season and then will have two years of eligibility.

Refused NASCAR driver Carl Edwards is still refusing to discuss his current contract negotiations, even as rival driver Jeff Gordon insists the indecision will become a distraction to Edwards’ championship chances. Edwards is the current Sprint Cup Series points leader heading into Sunday’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Agreed The New Jersey Devils reached an agreement with high-scoring left wing Zach Parise on a one-year-contract. In making the announcement, Devils president and general manager Lou Lamoriello said the two sides were continuing to work on a multiyear deal.

• Former NBA player and Michigan State star Jay Vincent has been sent to jail, five weeks before he gets his sentence in a federal fraud case. Defense lawyer Tom Clement said Vincent voluntarily revoked his bond and agreed to go to jail before a judge made a decision during a hearing Thursday in Grand Rapids, Mich. Vincent is awaiting sentencing on Sept. 2 in a fraud case involving thousands of people who paid to become certified home inspectors.

Suspended The International Tennis Federation suspended former top-100 player Robert Kendrick of the U.S. for a year after he tested positive for a banned stimulant at the French Open.
