MOSCOW, Idaho – A fire damaged the Navy ROTC building at the University of Idaho in Moscow.

Moscow Fire Chief Ed Button said no one was injured in the Saturday evening fire.

The blaze engulfed portions of the building before firefighters brought it under control.

A small crowd gathered at the scene shortly before 7 p.m., when flames could be seen coming out of the attic.

Once firefighters determined the building could be safely entered, students and staff began salvaging photos, documents, uniforms, flags and other items.

Button said the 70-year-old building sustained significant smoke and water damage.
