Pedestrian killed on Highway 2
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed early this morning on Highway 2 nine miles south of Newport.
Timothy Davis, 29, of Newport, was walking northbound on Highway 2 when he crossed into the path of a Subaru Impreza, driven by Kevin P. Shaw, 28, of Spokane, who was also northbound, according to the Washington State Patrol. WSP responded about 3:18 a.m.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved and WSP is still investigating the cause.

I am still stunned at the high number of traffic related deaths in this region. Quite a few vehicle v. pedestrian cases, and wrong way drivers, and single car slide offs while not wearing seat belts. Folks these are all preventable deaths. It seems that we have seen a half dozen vehicle v. pedestrian incidents in the last 6 weeks. Self-preservation seems to be a low priority for these folks.

accidents happen…drivers that have these accidents should have lisences revoked…of course, since driving is a “right” and not a privilege, people get away with bad driving over and over again,..and drunkards walk down highways and into cars

You’re kidding me - the story states the walker stepped in front of the car, and you’re placing blame on the driver? The walker was probably dressed in dark clothing (as night walkers usually are) so not visible until the driver was close to him.
I agree with Kivaari, we have a lot of people in this area who have little or no respect for themselves and how their actions may affect others.
