Fairfield City Council – The city council voted to approve a pruning contract with Inland Tree Service and approve a 1 percent property tax increase for 2012 that will collect an additional $846. A public hearing was held on a possible new real estate excise tax, but no decision was made. Six trees were recently donated and planted around town. (Source: Town clerk Cheryl Loeffler)

Rockford City Council – A public hearing was held on the proposed 2012 budget. The council discussed the town’s contract with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Council members voted to increase council member pay for $20 a meeting to $40 a meeting. This new pay will only apply to new council members. The town is working to purchase a snowplow/sanding truck.
