RAST, Velma (Ropp)

Velma was born to Wallace and Myrtle Ropp on October 18, 1921 in Pingry, Idaho.

Velma has one sister, Jean Dickerson.

Her numerous cousins were her first playmates and schoolmates.

This family bond was a lifelong passion.

Velma married Emanuel Rast on April 29, 1939.

They were blessed with four children, Connie Shenefelt, Wallace Rast, Patrick Rast, and Karen Paul.

She had 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and four and one half great-great-grandchildren.

Velma and Manny had special bonds with their nieces and nephews and many honorary grandchildren.

They opened their home and hearts for all who wanted to enter.

There were many family dinners and she loved attending the Ropp Family Reunion for the last 57 years.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, ceramics, cooking, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 beginning at 11:00AM in the Sunset Chapel Mausoleum on the grounds of Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery.
