West Bank outpost gets stay
JERUSALEM – Israel’s Supreme Court on Sunday gave the government a two-month reprieve from its order to demolish five residential structures in an unauthorized West Bank settlement known as Givat Haulpana.
The government had sought a three-month delay, arguing that it wants to review the matter and possibly formulate a new policy on the issue of such outposts.
The government had acknowledged that Givat Haulpana, home to about 30 families, was built illegally on private Palestinian land and had vowed to dismantle the site by May 1.
