Lynden rolls to 2A title

Record-setting performances by quarterback Josh Kraght and receiver Zac Vis led Lynden to a 41-7 victory over Tumwater for its second consecutive Class 2A state championship on Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.

Kraght completed 16 of 27 passes for 376 yards and four touchdowns for Lynden (13-1), which won its fifth title in seven years. Kraght’s 431 total yards set a title-game record. Vis had nine receptions for a title-game record 271 yards. His three touchdown catches tied the record.

Tumwater (12-2), champions in 2010, scored its only touchdown when David Durden picked off a Kraght pass and returned it 20 yards to make it 10-7 late in the first quarter.

Bellevue 35, Eastside Catholic 3: Budda Baker and Jack Meggs each scored two touchdowns as Bellevue rushed for 315 yards in a 35-3 victory over Eastside Catholic to claim their fifth straight Class 3A state championship on Friday night in Tacoma.

Montesano 43, Royal 28: Matthew Jensen threw two touchdown passes and Elliot Mendenhall and Tucker Ibabao each rushed for two scores to help Montesano beat Royal 43-28 for its third Class 1A state championship. Jensen completed 15 of 20 passes for 268 yards to lead Montesano (12-2) to its first title since 1994.

Liberty Christian 34, Neah Bay 28: Lesser scored on a 2-yard run as time expired to give Liberty Christian a 34-28 win over Neah Bay for its first 1B state championship. Lesser rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in the eight-man game. Mike Olson completed 9 of 18 passes for 145 yards and two TDs and rushed for another score.
