Women’s basketball: Freeman powers CCS to rout of Clippers

Morgan Freeman led three players in double figures with 17 points and Community Colleges of Spokane routed South Puget Sound 73-24 at the Lane Crossover women’s basketball tournament Saturday in Eugene.

Breeana Wilson and Kylie Tareski added 11 points apiece for the hot-shooting Sasquatch, who made 31 of 73 total field goals.

CCS (4-4) outscored the Clippers (1-4) 39-8 in the second half.

The Sasquatch will play Clark (2-6) today. Clark stayed alive with a 73-64 win over Linn-Benton (2-7).

UC Santa Barbara 54, Washington 46: Sweets Underwood had 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Gauchos (4-5) to a win over the Huskies in Seattle.

In addition to her double-double, Underwood was 6 of 11 from the field and had three assists and a steal.

The Gauchos led throughout the game with a score of 27-17 at halftime.

The largest lead was 17 points. Washington came within one at the 9:33 mark in the second half, but the Gauchos went on a 9-0 run, and the game was never that close again

Jazmine Davis scored 20 points for the Huskies (6-2). Kristi Kingma added 10 points and Aminah Williams had 10 rebounds.

North Idaho 58, Eastern Utah 54: Angela Woods and Mollie Kramer scored 12 points apiece and the Cardinals edged the Golden Eagles in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game in Price, Utah.

Kabri Emerson and Hannah Love combined to grab 21 rebounds for the Cardinals.

North Idaho (13-0, 2-0) made 21 of 39 free throws, compared to just 5 of 12 for Eastern Utah (3-11, 0-2).
