Winter Solstice Celebration – Today, 7 p.m. at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall St. The celebration includes a candlelight service of Christian Communion, Celtic prayers and readings focusing on the presence of Christ’s light in all things, and a musical performance by Janet and Brett Dodd followed by a Christmas potluck snack reception. Winter Solstice Celebrations at Unity Center of North Spokane – Friday, 6 p.m.: Celebration includes drumming, singing, ceremony, prayer, blessing, sharing, gratitude, fire and chili. Saturday: Buffalo Trace Society Solstice Observance and Potluck, food at 5:30 p.m., ceremonies at 7 p.m. Both events at the center, 4123 E. Lincoln Road. (509) 489-6964.

Blue Christmas - A Service of Light for the Longest Night – Service of healing prayers, music and Scripture for anyone struggling with difficulties during the holiday season, Saturday, 3 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry St. (509) 448-2255.

Living Nativity – Saturday 5:30-7 p.m. on the east side of Green Bluff Community United Methodist Church, 9908 E. Green Bluff Road in Colbert. The free event will also be staged on Christmas Eve following the 7 p.m. family candlelight caroling service. (509) 238-9100.
