Witnesses sought in Valley mall stabbing

Detectives believe a knife assault at the Spokane Valley Mall may have been planned by a group of teenagers, and they’re asking for witnesses with video to contact them.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assault after fleeing the mall Saturday, where a 14-year-old girl was stabbed in the food court about 3:45 p.m.

A woman who identified herself as the mother of the suspect’s girlfriend said her son witnessed the attack and fled with the suspect.

Dozens of teens watched the assault, which authorities believe may have been promoted ahead of time on Facebook.

Spokane County sheriff’s Detective Tim Hines asks anyone with video of the assault or who knows of someone who may have video of the assault is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
