Whitworth, CCS light it up in men’s basketball wins

Seven players scored 10 or more points and the Whitworth men’s basketball team won its sixth straight game Friday night, routing Linfield 95-67 in Northwest Conference action in McMinnville, Ore.

Idris Lasisi and Colton McCargar scored 15 points apiece for the Pirates, who hit 36 of 58 field-goal attempts, including 16 of 26 3-pointers.

Whitworth’s Mack Larkin and Jack Loofburrow each had 13 points.

The conference-leading Pirates have three more regular-season games left, starting with a game at Pacific tonight.

CCS 114, Blue Mountain 73: Preston Wynne made seven 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 34 points as hot-shooting Community Colleges of Spokane ran over the Timberwolves in an NWAACC game at Spokane CC.

Brady Bagby scored 18 points, Luke Evans added 17 and Ahbrae Harvey handed out 11 assists for the Sasquatch (18-3, 7-1), who connected on 15 of 30 shots from beyond the arc. Kyle Davis had 23 points and 14 rebounds for the Timberwolves (7-12, 3-6).

CCS hosts Treasure Valley today.

Women

Whitworth 93, Linfield 73: Lexi Belcher made 8 of 11 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 33 points to lead Whitworth to a Northwest Conference win over the Tigers (10-12, 4-9) in McMinnville, Ore.

Emily Guthrie added 12 points for the Pirates (10-12, 6-7).

Whitworth is at Pacific tonight.

Blue Mountain 79, CCS 66: Stephanie Lopez had 33 points and nine rebounds as the Timberwolves (13-7, 5-4) topped Community Colleges of Spokane in an NWAACC game at SCC.

The Sasquatch (6-14, 1-7) got 21 points from Laikyn Brophy and 12 points and six rebounds from Amanda Buttrey.

CCS hosts Treasure Valley today.
