Shock add receiver

Verran Tucker, a wide receiver who has played 19 games in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs, has been added by the Spokane Shock, the AFL team announced.

Tucker, a former California Bear, has more NFL experience than any player in Shock franchise history, the team announced. He was signed by Dallas in 2010. When the Cowboys released him, the Chiefs signed him. He played in 12 games for the Chiefs in 2010, starting two. He had six receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown. He played in four preseason games for the Chiefs in 2011.

The Shock open the AFL season in the Arena on March 12 against the Iowa Barnstormers.

North Idaho College swept a ScenicWest Athletic Conference doubleheader from Colorado Northwestern in St. George, Utah, on Monday, unloading home runs by Shelby Carter, Nicole Atkinson and Jessica Lupinacci in a 10-1 six-inning win and collecting a dozen hits in a 12-3, five-inning victory. Both games were shortened by the run-ahead rule.

Carter had two RBIs in each game for NIC (6-12, 4-6 SWAC) and Kasara Wise had a three-RBI performance in the 12-3 victory.

Emily Perlich pitched a four-hitter, striking out 11, in the six-inning win while Danielle Hockett and Jen Rosie combined on a four-hitter with six strike outs in the other game.
