CLIFF/CANNON – The Corbin Art Center, 507 W. Seventh Ave., will hold art classes for children, ages 6-13, beginning Jan. 30. Registration is required for all classes.

Classes include:

• Art Exploration, for kids 7-13. Mondays, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Runs for six weeks. Cost is $49 per person.

• Drawing Basics, for kids 6-12. Wednesdays, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Begins Feb. 1 and runs for five weeks. Cost is $45 per person.

A series of workshops for adults will also begin Jan. 30. Registration is required for all classes.

Classes include:

• Telling Your Life Story Creative Writing, Mondays, from 6 to 8 p.m. Runs for five weeks. Cost is $49 per person.

• Digital Cameras: What to Buy Workshop, Jan. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $15 per person.

• Designing Your Landscape, Wednesdays, from 6 to 8 p.m. Begins Feb. 1 and runs for five weeks. Cost is $49 per person.

• Painting What’s Important in Watercolor Landscapes with Fabian Napolsky, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $28 per person.

• Learn Creative Beading - Jewelry Workshop, Feb. 4, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Cost is $15 per person.

• Hello Cupcake! Decorating Workshop, Feb. 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $25 per person.

• Vegetarian Lasagna - Italian Cooking Workshop, Feb. 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost is $23 per person.

Cancer group seeks volunteers

SPOKANE COUNTY – Volunteers are needed for the American Cancer Society’s Spokane Cancer Resource Centers. The Cancer Resource Centers is a partnership between the American Cancer Society and Deaconess Hospital/Rockwood Health Systems, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, and Valley Hospital and Medical Center.

Volunteers are not trained medical personnel, but they have access to up-to-date cancer information and free programs and services available in this area. They are also trained to navigate the society’s website and community resource database. Former cancer patients are encouraged to apply.

Enjoy Winterfest events today

DEER PARK – The Deer Park Kiwanis will host its 28th annual Winterfest today. Events will be held in different locations throughout Deer Park for people of all ages.

Winterfest fun includes a pancake breakfast; a 5K frostbite foot race; a craft sale; an outhouse race; children’s activities; a chili cook-off; and live entertainment by Bubbillusionist Jarom Watts beginning at 1 p.m.; the Dancing Dogs at 2 p.m.; the Deer Park High School Band at 3 p.m.; and from 4 to 6 p.m. the Country Classic band. Attendees can enjoy a bonfire after the live entertainment, followed by fireworks. Most of the Winterfest events are free.
