Deputies arrest two after Spokane Valley party leads to shooting

An early Sunday morning party led to the arrest of a man sheriff’s deputies say fired a handgun at another person during an altercation at a house near Mission and Progress. Sheriff’s officers say the shooting occurred before 6 a.m. during a fight on a driveway next to a duplex where the party took place. Reports say two men fought over a handgun that one man pulled from his coat. Others at the party wrestled the gunman to the ground. During the altercation the gun discharged at least once but did not cause any injuries, according to reports. The gunman and one other person left the party. Sheriff’s deputies later tracked down the two men and arrested them. Authorities have not yet released the name of the arrested pair.
