Stevens County rescuers find body of drowning victim

Rescue crews in Stevens County recovered the body Sunday afternoon of a Spokane man who went missing Friday in the Little Spokane River and drowned.
The man was swimming in an area north of Long Lake in Stevens County. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Crews recovered the man under 10 feet of water around 2 p.m. Sunday. County officials said the body was found in an area where the man was last seen swimming by others along the water.
Stevens County sheriff’s deputies, the Stevens County Dive Team and Spokane Tribal Police took part in the rescue effort.
