June 2, 2012

David was born in Williston, ND and passed away in Tualatin, OR at age 59.


His family moved to Spokane when he was 11 years old where he attended St. Augustine Grade School and graduated from Lewis Clark High School in 1971.

He was always very artistic and creative and graduated with a Fine Arts degree from Ft. Wright College.

A short time later, he moved to Oregon where he pursued his artistic interests and supported himself as a dinner waiter at some of the most popular restaurants in Portland.

He was a member of the Oregon Potters Association, and participated in the annual Ceramic Showcase where he won awards for his ceramic pieces including the Bennett Welsh Award as well as the best booth award for three years in a row.

David’s last few years were affected by melanoma cancer treatments through which he always maintained a hopeful outlook and spirit.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard, in 2003.

He is survived by his companion Kirtland Davidson; mother, Myrtle; brothers, Mike (Marie); Tim; Pat (Jo); Terry (Bonnie); sisters, Maureen (Bill) Rickard; Kathy (John) Olsufka; Diane (Allen) Lee; Margaret (John) Worden; Rebecca (Le) Dolan; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held July 5th at 10 a.m. at the First Unitarian Church, Eliot Chapel, 1011 SW 12th Ave., Portland OR.

David’s family would like to express appreciation to the Pacific Health Care staff for its most kind and respectful care of David and most of all to Kirt for his loyalty, and loving steadfast care and advocacy for David.
