Police: Body found in lake may be Spokane fugitive

A man authorities believe is a fugitive from Spokane was found dead in a Western Washington lake Wednesday. Authorities responded to the North Lake Stickney Drive in Lynnwood for a report of a body floating in the water near a dock, Snohomish County sheriff’s bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said. They have not released his identity, but believe the body is that of a man who was involved in a pursuit just days before and has an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Department of Corrections. On Feb. 26, about 11:55 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to an area in Everett to assist the Washington State Patrol with a vehicle pursuit, Prentiss said. The driver of the silver Honda Accord, who was white, wearing a plaid shirt, a white or gray undershirt and jeans, eventually fled the vehicle on foot. A K-9 track ended near a dock on the lake. Authorities believe the body recovered from the lake is that of the driver, based on the man’s description and the time frame of events. Major Crimes Detectives are investigating.
