Passed away March 10, 2012 in Spokane Valley, WA. She grew up and graduated high school in Pomeroy, WA, where she was also born. In her younger years she was a ranch wife in Hooper, WA and a member of the Daughters of Rebekah. Irene was a steadfast and strong woman who survived a number of life threatening illnesses. She loved gardening in her beautiful flower gardens and liked Spring best of all because “everything comes to life”. For 67 years Irene penpalled to over 50 people. She was very creative woman who enjoyed crocheting and sewing, especially making Cabbage Patch dolls and their clothes. Irene baked cakes for each of her grandkid’s birthdays in many different shapes and themes. She also enjoyed the show Rugrats, dancing, yard sales, shopping, playing piano, swapping stationery and stickers, traveling, visiting with family and friends and was an avid reader. Her two cats, Johnny Cat and Sammy were a joy to her and she loved them dearly. Irene is survived by her daughters, Floidine Yelley of Greenacres, WA and Konda “Geni” Yandell of Caldwell, ID; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elgin and Konda LeGore; brothers, Bill and Lawerence LeGore as well as her sister, Florence McGrady.
