Spokane Valley Fire Department – Four new recruits were sworn in. Brick work is supposed to start on Station 6 this week. The number of calls the department has responded to this year is up almost 5 percent from this time last year.

Fairfield City Council – The council discussed changes to the water and sewer ordinances. It voted to put in a recycling bin behind the town shop. There was also discussion on plans for the town’s annual Flag Day celebration and the council voted to pay for eight weeks of mosquito fogging. (Source: Town clerk Cheryl Loeffler)
