Man dies in Puget Sound boat collision

Associated Press

SEATTLE – A man died Friday after a collision between a yacht and a small aluminum boat overturned the smaller boat, dumping its two occupants into Puget Sound.

The collision occurred Friday afternoon about a mile off Seattle, the Coast Guard said.

The yacht crew and nearby Suquamish police pulled the two men out of the water, KOMO-TV reported. One man, reportedly in his 60s, had lost consciousness and was pronounced dead a short time later despite attempts to revive him.

The second man, in his 70s, was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.

Seattle police were investigating.
