CCS men name Groth as basketball coach

College basketball: Jeremy Groth is replacing Clint Hull as the Community Colleges of Spokane men’s basketball coach.

Groth, a former Curlew High School standout, has been an assistant at CCS the past four years. Hull has resigned for personal reasons, according to a school press release.

Groth is second on the all-time scoring list for Washington high schools with 2,447 points.

He played two seasons at Big Bend Community College and then played at NAIA Division I power Concordia (Irvine, Calif.) his final two collegiate seasons where he helped the Eagles to a national title in 2003 and a runner-up finish in 2004.

Shock coaches will return

Arena football: Spokane Shock defensive coordinator Travis Crusenberry and defensive backs coach Stanley Franks will return to coach Andy Olson’s staff for the 2013 season. It will Crusenberry’s fourth season and Franks’ second.
