Northwest Christian boys soccer stays alive

Jacob Weaver scored his second goal of the match in the 53rd minute to give Northwest Christian a 3-2 win Tuesday over Trout Lake/Glenwood in a loser-out boys soccer 2B subregional at Riverside Christian.

The Crusaders will visit Waitsburg-Prescott on Friday in a regional semifinal.

Alex King scored for Trout Lake/Glenwood for the only tally of the first half. Weaver’s first goal of the day, in the 42nd minute, tied it, and Austin Friedly scored two minutes later for a 2-1 lead.

King’s second goal, in the 47th minute, tied the game again before Weaver came through with the winner.

Devin Van Laar made eight saves for TLG, while Daniel Hughes made four for Northwest Christian.

• Erik Muelheims had three goals and two assists as St. George’s routed visiting Dayton 10-0 in a 2B subregional.

Nathan Furbeyre added three goals – two in the first four minutes of the contest – Camus Chapman scored twice and had two assists and Corey Spalding assisted on three goals for the Dragons (15-2-1), who advanced to a regional semifinal Friday at St. George’s with either Valley Christian or Riverside Christian.

The Dragons outshot the Bulldogs 40-5.

The loss ended Dayton’s season.

• Waitsburg-Prescott beat Northport 7-0 in a 2B subregional at St. George’s to advance to Friday’s regional semifinals.

Volleyball

Pomeroy beat visiting Touchet and Liberty Christian beat visiting LaCrosse-Washtucna in loser-out District 9 1B volleyball matches.

The teams advanced to today’s championship quarterfinals in Colfax. Pomeroy will face Garfield-Palouse at 3 p.m., while Liberty Christian will meet St. John-Endicott at 4:30.

The winner of the first match will face top-seeded Tekoa-Oakesdale in a semifinal at 6 p.m. today, while No. 2 seed Colton awaits the winner of the second match at 7:30.

Sarah Croskey had four aces, six kills and 10 assists to lead Liberty Christian to a 25-8, 25-23, 26-24 sweep of LaCrosse-Washtucna. Sydney Higgins had five aces and 12 assists for the Patriots.
