Mead man dies in motorcycle crash

A motorcycle crash in Stevens County this morning left a Mead man dead.

Motorcyclist Shawn S. Towry, 24, was riding a Triumph Bonneville westbound on Highway 292 about three miles west of Loon Lake when the crash occurred, according to the Washington State Patrol.

He rear-ended Corrie A. Sams, 25, of Valley, who was slowing and signaling for a left-hand turn.

Towry died at the scene. Sams, who was driving a Ford Focus, was uninjured.

The crash occurred about 11:04 a.m.

Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor and say inattention caused the crash.
