Avista says work will cause power outages

Thousands of northern Spokane County Avista customers will experience power losses this week as maintenance is performed on equipment.

The Bonneville Power Administration will be working on a substation serving more than 3,100 customers. Users in the area from West Ballard Road north to Loon Lake, Wash., and east to Highway 2 will lose power Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 6:30 a.m., a news release from Avista said.

Frank Binder, Avista’s Deer Park district manager, said the maintenance work would “help ensure the reliability of service to our customers” and encouraged “those with special considerations to make alternative arrangements during this time.”
