Obituary: Nixon, Donna (Wood)

NIXON, Donna (Wood) Donna Nixon (Wood) of Diamond Lake, Washington passed away on March 27th, 2013 with her loving daughters by her side.

Donna was born on a sunny day in Fargo, North Dakota July 28th, 1928.

She moved to the Spokane area in the 1940’s where she met the love of her life, Robert G. Nixon.

The two wed on the 4th of July, 1947.

Donna was a woman of many talents, but none more important than being a wonderful home maker and mother to her four daughters.

She loved spending time on Diamond Lake where she resided for most of her adult life.

At Diamond Lake she was known for her beautiful and colorful flowers along with her sweet and loving charm.

When Donna became a grandparent, she had a knack for always keeping her cookies within an arm reach of any visiting grandchildren.

Later in her life, she was lucky enough to meet people she would later call her friends in the care of the great people at the Guardian Angel of Post Falls, Idaho.

There, she participated in activities, made friends, and would call it home.

Donna is survived by her by her two brothers Bob and Scott Wood of Spokane, her daughters Sally and (Bob) Hoop, Pam and (Jim) Richter, Connie and (Dale) Skellenger and Charlotte and (Jerry) Graves.

Her grandchildren are Dave Hoop, Kelli and (Steve) Kittilstved, Kara and (Nathan) White, Kris and (Jessica) Richter, Lana and (Eric) Grytdal, Rob and (Lisa) Skellenger, Cherie and (Mark) Welch, Ryan and (Kelly) Graves, and Stephen Graves.

Her great grandchildren are Anthony and Ashley Hoop, Nick and Amanda Kittilstved, James, Bethany and Reid Skellenger, Ashley, Casey and Breona Welch, Monica, Rebecca, and Jasmine Grytdal and Weston Wolf-Graves.

Thank you to the staff of Guardian Angel of Post Falls, Idaho and to the staff and volunteers at the Hospice House of North Idaho for the wonderful help in her last days.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Hospice of Northern Idaho.

At the request of Donna there will be no service.
