Obituary: Whittekiend, Alvan C. (Al)

WHITTEKIEND, Alvan C. “AL” Born 09-13-1949, born again 12-11-2012, went home to Jesus, 04-04-2013.

Survived by loving wife Erika and precious sons Les 13, Forest 9, and Glenn 7.

Preceded in death by father, Forest and brother Glenn.

Survived by mother, Jeannette, Momita Cleme, Papito Miguel, brother Les (Marie), sister Cheryl (Michael), brother Virgil, 7 nieces and nephews.

Retired U.S. Army Special Forces CW4, Rangers, Combat Dive and Combat Dive Supervisor trainer and assaulter C/3/7 SFG, quiet professional.

United States Dept of State, Narcotics Affairs Section, Lima, Peru.

We will all miss Al, his kind and steadfast love and devotion to Erika and boys, the respect and attention he displayed to all of his family, friends, fellow NAS workers and SF brothers.

He loved working Tarapoto farm, looked forward to beating cancer so he could teach sons to fish here in the northwest.

Friends are invited to say good-bye at memorial to be held at Crossover Church, 16825 N. Newport Hwy Saturday April 20, 11AM.

Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
