Obituary: Conrad, Edward Kimpton

CONRAD, Edward K. Edward Kimpton Conrad, 93, passed away on August 4th.

Ed was a resident of Orchard Crest Retirement Community in Spokane Valley.

Ed and his wife, Bonnie, moved there from Montana in 2007.

They were married in 1948 in Helena, Montana and nearly reached their 65th wedding anniversary.

The Lord blessed them with three children: George E. (Spokane), Mark J.

(Colorado Springs), Elizabeth A.

(Richland, WA).

Ed and Bonnie have three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ed was a engineer, rancher, rural mail carrier, and plant manager.

He was born January 14, 1920 in Luverne, Minnesota but grew up in Montana.

Ed attended elementary school in Toston and Broadwater County High School in Townsend.

In 1938 Ed enrolled at Montana State College in Bozeman where he obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering and completed ROTC.

On graduation in June 1942, Ed was inducted into the Army Air Corp and sent to Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio.

Ed worked on the design and production of aircraft engines including the turbine for the first U.S. jet fighter.

After the service he was employed by General Motors at their Allison Engine Division in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Ed returned to Montana in 1946 where he lived until 2007.

Ed now lives for eternity with his Heavenly Father but will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Ed’s committal service was August 12th at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA.
