Seibly captures city golf championship

Rob Seibly of Manito CC fired a final-round 66 at The Creek at Qualchan and won the Odom Spokane City Championship on Sunday for the second time in three years.

Seibly finished with a three-round score of 205, four strokes ahead of second-place finisher Kevin Braegger, the second-round leader, who shot a 71.

In the senior division, second-round leader Jim O’Rourke of Spokane CC held on and scored a one-stroke victory, shooting a final-round 74 for a 215 total, edging Jeff Koppa. Both golfers shot 74s in the final round.

The tournament was played on three courses: Esmeralda, Downriver and Qualchan.

Women’s soccer

Eastern Washington (0-2) couldn’t take advantage of some early scoring opportunities and fell to the Seattle Redhawks 2-0 at Cheney.

The Redhawks (1-1) came to life in the second half scoring at 49:01 and 76:38. Seattle outshot Eastern 16-6.

• Idaho (0-2) is still looking for its first goal of the season after being blanked 3-0 by Idaho State (2-0) in Pocatello.

• North Idaho finished in a 0-0 tie with Northwest College in Powell, Wyo. NIC (1-0-1) hit the crossbar or post five times toward the end of regulation and in overtime.
