Cousins, Kings shock Heat in overtime

NBA: DeMarcus Cousins had 27 points and 17 rebounds, Rudy Gay scored 26 and the Sacramento Kings rallied from an early 17-point deficit to beat the undermanned Miami Heat 108-103 in overtime Friday night at Sacramento, Calif.

Isaiah Thomas added 22 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds to help the Kings snap Miami’s six-game winning streak.

Gay made a tying jumper in the final minutes of regulation, and Sacramento quickly pulled away in the extra period to bring the sellout crowd of 17,317 roaring to its feet.

LeBron James finished with 33 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, and Chris Bosh had 18 points and seven rebounds for the two-time defending NBA champions.

Miami played without Dwyane Wade (rest), Ray Allen (right knee tendinitis) and Chris Andersen (sore back).

• Curry lifts Warriors: Stephen Curry had career highs of 16 assists and 13 rebounds to go with 14 points and the Golden State Warriors beat the visiting Phoenix Suns 115-86 at Oakland, Calif., to win their fourth straight game. Klay Thompson scored 21 points for the Warriors, David Lee added 17 points and Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green had 11 apiece.

Magic sink Pistons: Arron Afflalo scored 23 points to lead five teammates in double figures and Orlando snapped a three-game skid by beating visiting Detroit 109-92 at Orlando, Fla.

• Pelicans roll over Nuggets: Tyreke Evans had 19 points and 10 assists and New Orleans handed Denver its fifth straight loss, 105-89 in New Orleans.

• Raptors down Knicks: Jonas Valanciunas had 16 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, DeMar DeRozan scored 25 and Toronto rallied to win 95-83 at New York.

• Love guides T-wolves : Kevin Love had 25 points and 11 rebounds, and J.J. Barea scored 17 points off the bench to help Minnesota top visiting Washington 120-98 at Minneapolis.

• Nets bag Bucks: Shaun Livingston scored 20 points, Mirza Teletovic added 19 off the bench and Brooklyn rebounded from an embarrassing Christmas Day performance by ending its four-game losing streak with a 104-93 home victory over Milwaukee.

Rask, Bruins blank Senators

NHL: Tuukka Rask made 33 saves for his fourth shutout of the season, and Reilly Smith scored two goals to lifting the Boston Bruins to a 5-0 rout of the Ottawa Senators in Boston.

• Pens win in OT: James Neal scored at 1:03 of overtime and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the host Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 at Raleigh, N.C.

• Caps repel Rangers: Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and an assist, and Eric Fehr scored the tiebreaking goal with 5:09 left to lift the Washington Capitals over the visiting New York Rangers 3-2.

Jackets sneak past Devils: Cam Atkinson scored in the shootout to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 2-1 win over host New Jersey at Newark, N.J.

• Jets soar past Wild: Blake Wheeler scored two goals and the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Minnesota Wild 6-4 in Winnipeg.

Norway wins at Junior tourney

Hockey: Saku Maenalanen had two goals and an assist to help Finland beat Norway 5-1 in Group B action at the world junior hockey tournament at Malmo, Sweden. Tim Robin Johnsgard scored for Norway (0-2). In Group A, Milan Kolena and Marko Dano each had two goals and an assist in Slovakia’s 9-2 victory over Germany. Martin Reway and David Griger each had a goal and three assists, and Mario Lunter, Daniel Gachulinec and Stanislav Horansky also scored for Slovakia (1-0). Dominik Kahun scored twice for Germany (0-2).

The defending champion United States began Group A play Thursday with a 5-1 victory over the Czech Republic. The U.S. will play Slovakia today, Germany on Sunday, and finish group play Tuesday against Canada. Canada also won its opener Thursday, beating Germany 7-2.

Choo joins Rangers

Baseball: Shin-Soo Choo officially joined the Texas Rangers, a team that went into this offseason looking to remake its offense. Choo received a $130 million, seven-year contract. That deal was agreed upon last weekend, pending the completion of a physical. He has a .288 career average in 853 major league games for Seattle (2005-06), Cleveland (2006-12) and Cincinnati.
